If you are new to this project, I decided to start reviewing small business owners' content markting efforts last month. Dan Seidman was the first winner, with his excellent site SalesAutopsy. You can read an abbreviated version his review here.
Why am I doing this, you may ask? Well, I do want to help people understand how to improve their online writing on the web, of course. But since people hire me and pay me to give them consulting like this, why would I volunteer to give away my services for free?
For one, I'm building a targeted list of people interested in content marketing. For another, whenever I dig into reviewing someone's site, their blog, their content marketing, I learn a ton about some of the challenges people are facing. This give me great fodder for blog posts, and who knows, maybe an ebook or special report or white paper.
Stories about real problems, real websites, real blog, and real people are what makes interesting reading, and great content marketing.
I believe that if you aren't giving away at least some of your time helping real people solve real problems, then you aren't participating fully in the universe.
Rosemary and Phyllis, our winners, present information on their sites targeted to boomer women, or what they refer to as "the Sandwich Generation", those older adults caught between nurturing older parents and adult children (or "kidults"). They are currently building a platform for the book they are writing.
I'm looking forward to digging into the content on their sites and learning how they are using the Web to attract readers and a targeted community of people with problems.
I'll be reviewing their content in a series of blog posts here, so if you want to get updates, be sure to subscribe using the subscription form in the upper right top of this blog.
