Writers Wanted: You can’t do it all yourself

Blonde_with_laptop
"Where can I find someone to write and edit my blog posts?" a colleague asked me this morning. That’s a smart question. You can’t do it all yourself. You can, but there’s probably not enough time to service clients, make money, run a business and write on your blog. Get help.

The colleague who asked me this question is a great and prolific writer. He has more ideas and content than he has time to write up. A professional editor could turn his articles into dynamic blog posts that would make a huge difference in his search engine traffic.

But this takes time and energy. You have to look at keywords and be strategic with headlines.

Get someone who:

  • Knows blogging (your platform system, whatever that is)
  • Knows how to write
  • Knows something about content marketing and writing to persuade
  • Knows what a good headline is
  • Is keyword savvy
  • Knows something about your niche
  • Has impeccable grammar and editing knowledge
  • Has a journalist’s nose for news
  • Has personality and can be conversational in writing

Articles for Sale: 25% Discount on Executive Coaching Articles

Every year since 1999 I offer an end-of-year article sale discount through Customized Newsletter Services. This is a niche company for executive coaches and management consultants that is part of Krakoff Wakeman Associates Inc., providing article content suitable newsletters and blogs directed at executives in corporations.

If this is something that interests you, go visit the article directory site at www.CustomizedNewsletterArticles.com using the discount link here:

http://snipurl.com/articlesale07 – Sale is on only until Dec. 31 midnight ET.

The 25% discount applies to all the content there, except for the new article The End of Management as We Know It. The articles are evergreen (not dated) and can be used with your name, and can be revised; you can add your own marketing info to them.

This is a great way to save time because the articles are well-researched based on leading business books and journals such as the Harvard Business Review.

Mindset: How it can grow your business – or shut it down

Mindset
Have you read Mindset: the New Psychology of Success? Carol Dweck, a research psychologist authored the book in 2006 after accumulating 20 years of data. After reading it, I signed up and attended 3 conferences in order to open up my learning mindset!

This is a change-your-way-of-thinking book that can easily improve your life and business, right away. It answers the question: "If you’re so smart, why aren’t you rich?"

According to Dweck, when young children are told they have high IQs, they easily adopt a closed mindset. They know they are smart, so they tend to not try anything that is challenging. Fast forward 30 years, and that smart person may avoid risking anything that might show them to be deficient.

A closed mindset can mean that you stop learning, stop attending conferences, because you "know all that already."

It explains why high achievers and high IQ scores don’t always succeed when promoted, and why some executives thrive and others fall prey to "CEO disease."

That’s why I wrote an article for Customized Newsletter Services, available for purchase and use in your newsletters and blogs: Mindset: Why Executives Thrive…or Barely Survive.

Herdlinger_associatesI got an email last week that I want to share with you, because it is this kind of note that makes me stay in the newsletter business, more than the money, more than anything.

This particular client, David Herdlinger, is an extraordinary coach. The number of people who have called me and mentioned how much respect they have for him is unbelievable. He is coach to many of the best consultants in the business. So of course, I was thrilled to hear this from him!

Marshall Goldsmith: What Got You Here Won’t Get You There

Marshall_goldsmith If you are an executive coach or a consultant, you’re familiar with the books, articles, and prolific work of Marshall Goldsmith. And there’s a reason. In my view, he is quickly becoming this century’s leadership development expert, with a stature reminiscent of Peter Drucker.

But I gush. If you’ve heard Goldsmith present at a conference, you’ll recognize some of his stories and humor in his books. He is down-to-earth, funny, clear and authentic. I won’t go on and on; this is after all a blog post, so here’s my point:

Goldsmithwhatgotyouhere Buy and read Goldsmith’s latest book, What Got You Here Won’t Get You There (Hyperion, 2007).

It doesn’t matter if you work in a different field or you’re not an executive. If you have a pulse, you will recognize yourself as participating in at least one of his "20 Habits That Hold You Back from the Top (p. 40)."

Goldsmith has an uncanny ability to recognize the challenges of interpersonal behavior, often leadership behavior. They are egregious everyday annoyances, that on the surface, appear to be normal; some of them even contribute to our success in getting ahead. But in the long run, they make the workplace more noxious than it needs to be.

And these bad habits, at higher levels of responsibility, will actually deter us from having continued success.

If you want to learn more about these bad habits and what you can do about them, order the book today on Amazon. I’m making it easy for you to order by including the link here, yes, right here; and yes, it includes my affiliate link so that I can profit greatly, at least a few pennies. But you will be far, far richer after reading the book and applying a few steps.

P.S. If you are working in the field of executive coaching or consulting and need material for your ezine, you can purchase an article based on Goldsmith’s principles of coaching and other research about bad bosses here from www.CustomizedNewsletterArticles.com:
Good Boss, Bad Boss: 20 Bad Habits Leaders Should Stop Doing Now.

Content Sale: End of Year Discounts from Customized Newsletter Articles

It’s becoming a habit: Every year I discount articles so that "starving consultants" can stock up on researched articles, and this year is no exception. At 30% off, that’s a good way to get articles you can use in your coach ezines, newsletters, and even blog posts.

I started writing articles like these in 1999. I printed and mailed the newsletters; then I began using the same articles for other consultants for a fee, and a whole newsletter service business was born: I called it Coaching Matters back then.

But enough about that, I was starting to go down Nostaglia Lane…Here’s how to get the discount.

Business coaching articles:

2000 words – normally $69/article, 30% off = $48
1000 words – normally $47/article, 30% off = $33
600 words – normally $35/article, 30% off = $24.50

Personal Development articles:

1000 word articles – normally $47/article, = $33
600 word articles – normmally $35/article, = $24.50

You must use this link to get your discount when you check out:
http://snipurl.com/Article_Sale_30

Sale prices are good through December 31, 2006.

Use the same link to browse the article site for topics.

I intend to write more articles for the personal development categories, and want to open this up to contributing editors. If you think you have articles you want to submit, let me know. Read the submission guidelines first though.

Customized Newsletters Hacked! What Are You Doing About Your Passwords?

Our brand new article directory site, www.CustomizedNewsletterArticles.com was hacked last week and destroyed. Visitors got a 404 redirect page, with a nice obscene four-letter word on the tab.

There is a back-up copy up there now, but all the category listings have to be restored. So if you are looking to buy article content for your newsletters or ezines, bear with us while we work feverishly to restore the categorized articles. Some articles are already listed on the home page, but not all.

This couldn’t have happened at a worse time: Denise and I were ready to launch a price-slashing sale on all articles before the end of the year. We will still do this, so just will wait for total restoration on the site so you can look for topics that interest you.

Two questions for you: how can hackers be so malicious? How can you protect your passwords?

Let this be a word of caution to all you people who use general, easy to remember passwords like, "Admin"… Do not do this! I never thought that this was a real danger until now! Best passwords are a combination of nonsensical words and numbers. And keep your passwords written down where only you can find them.

If you’d like to share your own horror stories about hackers, please do so; it will make me feel a little better…
