Facebook can be a powerful list building tool if you know how to use it properly as such. Here are ten ways you can use FB to build your email list and increase your online business income.
- Share your blog posts.
You can do this automatically by using one of several tools such as ping.fm or networked blogs. Both of these tools allow you to post a blog post on your blog and then have the post automatically show up on your profile or fan page or both. Ping.fm puts it in your status update while networked blogs puts an image and a summary of the post on your wall. You will find that many people will read your blog posts from FB, comment, subscribe to your list etc.
2. Share your compelling opt-in offer.
You want to of course do this on your blog but they are additional ways that you can do it on FB too. Some examples of ways that work to do this are:
- Include in a status update along with some cleverly written text
- Put it as a link on your fan page along with an explanation
- Put it with a description of a video that you upload to FB.
3. Use the notes application.
This is Facebook’s way of allowing you to write blog posts directly on FB. You can write notes with text and pictures and tag your friends to draw their attention to it. Make sure to avoid tagging too many people or tagging people who might not appreciate the gesture. You also want to always offer value with a link at the bottom to your opt-in offer. Avoid writing notes that may be seen as spam by others.
4. Share videos.
Videos are very popular on FB and if you do it right, your video may even go viral and be shared by others and create even more visibility for you and your offer. Make sure to include the link to your opt-in offer with the description part of your video.
5. Offer your offer as a solution to people’s problems.
Many people talk about their problems on FB. If your list building offer solves their problem, you can let the person know about it. You can also look for people who are asking questions and then answer the question and include your link as long as it is appropriate.
6. Have a compelling profile that makes people want to check out your website.
Make sure that you complete all of the information in your profile and that you give people reasons to what to get to know you and to visit your blog or website and grab your offer.
7. Share valuable tips with your link to your offer.
You can do this via your status updates, the notes application, or even photos if you are clever. Photos are very popular and you can include some text with your link along with a photo that is relevant to your offer.
8. Use Facebook groups.
While the way groups are formed has changed recently, the basic layout has remained the same. You can either find older groups that were made before the changes and then share your relevant content on the discussion boards and main pages or you can join newer groups that fit your market and that have some of your friends in them and do the same thing. You can also consider creating your own new group if it is appropriate for your market and topic.
9. Create a fan page.
Having a fan page is an essential move for anyone who is doing business on Facebook and a fan page can greatly increase the number of leads you get on your list from FB. The number one way to do this is to put your offer with your opt-in box on a special welcome tab that is the first page new non-fan visitors see. You can also get even more subscribers by doing many of the things mentioned previously such as auto-posting your blog posts, answering questions, and sharing valuable tips.
10. Interact on fan pages that target niches similar to yours.
This is something that can really give you a lot of leads if you do it correctly. You want to find fan pages that have a lot of action and that are different than what you offer but yet still target the same kinds of people and the same niches. Look at the questions people are asking and comment on them. Comment on the blog posts and other content and if you are allowed to add your own content. As long as it is relevant, people will appreciate it and you will get even more subscribers.
Follow these ten steps and watch your email list explode using the power of Facebook.
