How to Write a 1 Minute Video Marketing Script

You_are_on_air Are you video-savvy yet? Do you know how to crank out your own video scripts? Let me give you some tips for writing a one-minute script for marketing your biz services or products.

First, a little explanation…

I'm promoting iFlashVideo.com like mad this week for two reasons:

  1. They're opening up a membership program where folks like you and I can get professional quality videos made for $50/month (saving a ton of time, energy, money).
  2. Video is a smart way to get found on the Web, plus it's a really cool way for your site visitors to get to know you, like you, trust you.
  3. They've got an affiliate contest going, and I'm in the top 5, and maybe I'll win a Mac, a TV, or a new Video camera. I love contests and it gets me revved up to capture the thrill of being a Big Weinnah! Yah-hoo!

(But besides that, I still think this is a good program. Use this link to get on their pre-launch list but don't wait, they're closing soon.)

Oh, I guess that's three reasons, but hey, there's plenty more reasons to smarten up your video savvy.

Too Many Reasons Your Content Stinks…

Smelly  Are you an independent professional who provides services? For example, are you a coach, speaker, consultant, or some kind of marketing specialist? Do people pay you for your expertise? And are you pretty much working solo?

2nd question: Do you need marketing content for your online sites? Like web pages, sales copy for landing pages, white papers, special reports and cornerstone content?

3rd: What's stopping you from writing great content that brings in clients?

Here's what I think… and I could be wrong, but based on what my clients tell me about why they don't write better online content:

When Is a Blog Not a Blog?

Blog_letters Does your blog follow "best practices?" Is it even important that your blog looks like a blog? There are many ways to set up a blog, and some websites are now using blog platforms, so that there are currently many blog-sites that are cross-over combos.

When is a blog not really a blog? Who cares? What matters is, does it work to bring in clients?

I got a comment on a blog post I wrote about the importance of composing a "table of contents" when you're creating your business content marketing strategy. I got the idea when I was composing a new ebook using MyKnowledgeGenie.com.

A table of contents is a good way to organize information in a step-by-step way that's easy for readers to understand.

Making a list of chapters or steps your prospects and clients need to know about your products and services is a good way to organize an informational product. Well, a reader asked me if he couldn't just set up his blog with a table of contents, so that people could go find the information they need the most.

Stumbling on Business Happiness: Predicting the Future

Sunlight How do you know if you're doing the right things in your business? Even if you follow best practices, there comes a time you look at the numbers, and decide what's wrong, what's right, and what you need to eliminate or do more of, right?

There's a few measurements that baffle me for my own business. The more I blog, the more traffic I get, and the more I hear from people, whether it's for a business related (money-making) project or not.

So that's a good thing, any way I look at it. It's all good. But that doesn't tell me what direction to go in, what kinds of things to blog about, or what kinds of products and services to offer.

I'm sort of guessing what people need and want, based on previous sales of what I offer. But that's looking at the past to figure out what to do next. I'm going to bring out a survey soon to find out more.

In a way, building a business is like predicting the future. I remember being asked to project sales figures once… how can anyone do that? I've watched my husband do that for several of his entrepreneurial start-ups with utter fascination.

I have no idea. I wasn't trained in business, rather in psychology. That's a field that gives me clues about what to do, where to go in business. But is it enough?

10 Content Marketing Success Tips

Toprank-logo Are you writing this down? Take notes, these 10 tips for online success with Content Marketing are important. I didn't write them, but one of my favorite bloggers did, Adam Singer over at Online Marketing Blog. (#1 top Junta42 Content Marketing blog).

Here's what he says:

"As more companies, marketers and industry professionals flood the web with content, the value of those with a true understanding of content marketing keeps going up.

"More noise increases the value of signal. If your content marketing defines you as that source of signal, you’ll consistently be found, referenced and chosen ahead of competitors.

"With 6 in 10 marketers spending more on content marketing in 2010, now, more than ever, is the time to find where content fits within your marketing strategy.

What Are the New Rules of Doing Business Online?

There are a few important people I've met on the Web who've taught me a lot. One is Seth Godin, with whom I had a talk about his new book, Linchpin.

DMScott Another is David Meerman Scott, author of New Rules of PR and Marketing: How to Use Social Media, Blogs,  News Releases, Online Videos, and Viral Marketing to Reach Buyers Directly.

David has had tremendous success with this book, for good reason. It's chock full of tips and success stories. Yet, can you believe this: when he published it, Facebook was only for students, and Twitter didn't really exist, at least not like it is today! That was only four years ago.

Not surprising, there's a new updated version of the book, since so much has happened with social media, video and content marketing on the Web.NewRules

You should take a look at the second edition, because it's more valuable now than it was originally. The 1st edition is so ground-breaking, it's been translated into 24 languages!

Go ahead and read David's blog about what's in the book, and then jump on over to Amazon and get your copy now. By the way, David's blog WebInkNow, is a must read for staying informed about what matters with content marketing.

Create a Profit Funnel: 6 Steps to Better Offers

Smart-shoper-isolated-v2 What are your product peripherals? I mean what other products and services are your readers interested in? What else can you offer them, besides your own products and services? More products means more ways to enter your funnel, and create more profits.

For example, people come to me to get help with their newsletters and blogs. But what else do they need? They need other marketing tools. They need content marketing planning & coaching, they need video, shopping cart, ebooks, etc.

Having a great newsletter or a great blog doesn't mean squat if it doesn't work to sell your stuff. My target audience of smart professionals may also need help with copywriting, social media strategies, surveys, podcasts and teleseminars, videos, and information products like ebooks.

Content Marketing Profits: 10 Tips to Unlocking the Secret Key

Group-of-people How much time and effort do you devote to Outreach – connecting with others, leaving blog comments, responding on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn? This is an essential key to successful blogging, and essential to making your content marketing efforts profitable.

If you're like me, not enough, I'll bet. We (I mean me!) are so driven and task oriented that it's easy to forget to reach out to others.

I'm really writing this for myself, you see, but maybe you can relate. For example, I have a list of things to do, and I plow through those things, checking off as I go…and I'm pretty good about getting most things done.

But the one thing that often gets left til last is reaching out to others, finding out what they're doing, reading their blogs, commenting, and checking their tweets on Twitter.

I should take that back, it's not entirely true. I visit Twitter daily, sometimes 2-3 times. I get several emails a day from a service SocialOomph which gives me all the tweets in certain keywords I track.

Does Your Content Marketing Have Personality?

PabloCat Signature Do you use creative images to represent yourself and your business? Joan Stewart does a great job of branding herself as The Publicity Hound, using a dog on her blog and sites.

I've used a lot of images from iStockPhoto.com and Shutterstock on this blog. An interesting picture can magnetize readers into your post to find out more.

On my other site I use a blue man because I love the whimsical nature that it adds to an otherwise heavily-text based website.

Here's a fun site that offers you the possibility to create your own graphic image of yourself, adding hair, clothes, accessories for a reasonable price: DesignherGals.com. Here's what I recently created and purchased for use as a personal email signature:

My friends tell me it looks like me, and it's fun. There's even a pic of Huey my cat…
